Renae's returnViews: 334

renae landed at 9am this morning and will stay for the week. renae’s reaction to the appearance of angel was wonderful. she thought angel had gained a little weight (one of several situations when this is a good thing!) and looked healthier overall. it’s nice to hear this and to know that we’ve all taken such good care of her since renae’s last visit when the poo was hitting the fan.
the other reason why i picked renae up was for the contents in her carry-on. my favorite south jersey hoagies from broders’ cucina italiana (i worked there throughout my high school days) yum!

the girls are at gilda’s doing yoga right now, angel is really getting back into it. yesterday on the way home from her therapy session (which went great btw) angel was on the phone with her psychotherapist gang scheming to get back into the game.

she plans to attend her non-profit co-op groups again, and might even take on a co-op client in the near future. in the past few months angel has referred three new potential clients to her colleagues. she would’ve been at half time now, a full load is 20 clients per week. she said she’ll take whatever life throws at her and will start from scratch if need be. it was really cool to listen to her talk shop and to know she is still on top of her game. at her wellness group last tuesday she brought up working, and how the other’s do it. angel told me that most of the people in her group would have gone crazy if they weren’t back at work and doing what they loved most. angel was in private practice for a short year, and she had accomplished so much. she knows others who have been at for years with only a few clients. mighty impressive.

on health related news, yesterday we saw dr. taylor the neuro-oncologist. she told us for certain the appearance in her brain was indeed an old clot and not more cancer. she too thinks this happened over a month ago. she explained if it were a tumor, the contrast they injected into angel’s arm would have glowed this area up, but instead it was dull and gray. the location of the clot is right on the edge of the speech area too, which strangely gives angel some reassurance that she wasn’t going crazy and perhaps less chemo brain than she believed. dr. taylor said that angel’s brain was beautiful (i thought this was hilarious) and that most people in her situation would have 80% function back within a year, which means angel will be at 100% by next month ;)

this weekend we are laying low and enjoying sunday with the shanks’ and company. angel has her cetuximab infusion on monday and plans of returning the hospital bed are in order too. things are looking up.

have a good weekend everyone, peace and love.

Your blog was the first one I visited on the site after I set up my fathers profile.

the love that comes from your writing and photos says it all.

Stay strong and thank you for your strength, it allows me to gain from your experiences and to grow with the mounting challenges we face as a family…

Take care,
Tim Lane
